“…Mindful eating approaches, which gained increased interest in recent years, were shown to reduce emotional eating, but thus far, without providing evidence for increasing weight loss. 127,128 In addition, several effective behaviour change techniques implicate increasing cognitive awareness and self-efficacy in weight-loss interventions. Self-monitoring of weight or food intake is firmly associated with sustained weight-loss effects and should therefore be strongly encouraged, 129,130 particularly in a weight-loss maintenance phase, at weekly intervals.…”

In addition, several effective behaviour change techniques implicate increasing cognitive awareness and self‐efficacy in weight‐loss interventions.…”

“…Parallel to this scenario, global obesity rates have almost tripled in the last 50 years [ 4 ]. Overweight is a major public health concern and has been associated with a higher prevalence of psychiatric and chronic non-communicable diseases [ 4 , 5 ]. New approaches to prevent and treat obesity [ 5 ] which seek to reduce the emphasis on weight loss as the main health objective and try to reduce the stigma towards people who are overweight have been increasing [ 6 ].…”

New approaches to prevent and treat obesity [ 5 ] which seek to reduce the emphasis on weight loss as the main health objective and try to reduce the stigma towards people who are overweight have been increasing [ 6 ]. This is because traditional interventions focused heavily on weight loss have not produced good long-term results and weight regain is often observed [ 7 ].…”
