Banat et al (2006) showed that waters in the Hammar part of the study area largely follow evaporation gradients depending on whether there is flow through of river waters to maintain lower salinity concentrations. However, it is also possible that seawater from the Shatt al Arab during seiche events contributes to salinity.…”
