Abstract:MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are rapidly evolving endogenous small RNAs programing organism function and behavior. Although models for miRNA origination have been proposed based on sporadic cases, the genomic mechanisms driving swift diversification of the miRNA repertoires in plants remain elusive.
