Miniaturised wideband filtering antenna by employing CRLH‐TL and simplified feeding structure

Abstract: A miniaturised three-order wideband filtering antenna by employing a composite right/left handed transmission line (CRLH-TL) and a simplified asymmetric coplanar strip feeding structure is presented. The CRLH-TL resonator resonates at zeroth-order mode and first-positive-order mode, and the meander-line antenna performs not only as a radiator but also as the last resonator of the corresponding bandpass filter. The proposed filtering antenna has four poles in the passband and two radiation nulls at the band edg… Show more

“…When it is positive, the phase constant is real, and it is a passband, and when the radicand value is negative, the nit will be a stopband. The most important property is when both the right hand and left hand are exhibiting the same contribution, at which the line is balanced, and it occurs when the shunt and series resonances [11] are expressed as:…”

“…Recently, the antenna combination with metamaterial structure is one of the most issues to develop the communication systems . These characteristics have been considered to develop different devices such as Microstrip antennas and microwave filters . Composite right/left‐handed transmission technique has been employed for miniaturizing of the antenna as the most effective method .…”

“…Efforts to miniaturize and compactify filtennas have employed composite right/left handed transmission lines (CRLH-TLs) [14], [15] and multiple electrically small resonators in series [16], [17]. Unfortunately, the relatively large radiation patch / long meander-line strip above the ground required in those CRLH-TL-based filtenna designs prohibits any further miniaturization [14], [15].…”

“…Unfortunately, the relatively large radiation patch / long meander-line strip above the ground required in those CRLH-TL-based filtenna designs prohibits any further miniaturization [14], [15]. Similarly, multi-resonator filtenna makes use of multi-pole filter design principles, exploiting the presence of more transmission poles to achieve broader operational bandwidths.…”
