Abstract:On the set of dissipative solutions to the multi-dimensional isentropic Euler equations, we introduce a quasi-order by comparing the acceleration at all time. This quasi-order is continuous with respect to a suitable notion of convergence of dissipative solutions. We establish the existence of minimal elements. Minimizing the acceleration amounts to selecting dissipative solutions that are as close to being a weak solution as possible.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
