Minimal Media Strength for In vitro Conservation of Strawberry (Fragaria ananassa) Cultures

Abstract: An experiment for strawberry Fragaria ananassa cv. Festival in vitro conservation of cultures for nine months was studied. Three MS medium strength (full strength MS, ¾ MS, ½ MS, and ¼ MS) and the storage period (3, 6, and 9 months) in slowing down or reducing growth. Results showed a significant effect of the medium salt strength, as the full strength treatment was higher by achieved the highest percentage of viability (survival %) and storage characteristics of cultures (N%, P%, carbohydrates%, protein %) an… Show more

“…The rest of the plant parts were immersed in a 2% sodium hypochlorite solution for 15 minutes to disinfect them superficially in sterile conditions, and finally they were washed three times in distilled water for an average of 5 minutes each time. 1 time to remove the traces of the sterile material [14]. the seeds were sown in sterile laboratory culture bottles equipped with MS liquid media, free of growth regulators.…”

“…The shoots were then allowed to grow and develop roots for a period of three months. Following the rooting stage, the shoots that had been rooted were subsequently transferred to a halfstrength liquid MS medium for an additional duration of one month, in order to undergo a pre-acclimatization stage (Kadhim & Abdulhussein, 2021). During the entire process, the plantlets on solid medium and those in the culture media were incubated at a temperature of 25 ± 2 °C, with a light intensity of 2000 lux in a 16/8 light/dark cycle.…”
