miRNA Regulation Network Analysis in Qianliening Capsule Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Abstract: Objective. The objective of this study was to evaluate the molecular mechanism by which Qianliening capsule (QC) treats benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods. Benign prostatic hyperplasia epithelial cell line BPH-1 was treated with 0, 1.25, 2.5, and 5 mg/mL QC for 48 h, respectively. Evaluation of cell viability and observation of morphologic changes of BPH-1 cell gene expression and miRNA expression profiles were analyzed. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to confirm changes in miRNA and gene expressi… Show more

“…Here, rno‐miR‐122‐5p and miR‐34b‐3p were up‐regulated by RBP in BPH rats, and similar results were showed previously (Liu et al, ), that is miR‐122, miR‐34c‐5p and miR‐34a were up‐regulated by a traditional Chinese medicine formulation, Qianliening in human BPH cells (Table ), hinting that miR‐122 and miR‐34 might be targets of plant therapeutic drugs for BPH.…”

“…The miRNAs differentially expressed between prostate cancer and BPH in serum (Cochetti et al, ) or blood (Leidinger et al, ) were also studied, which also give clues to miRNAs expressed in BPH. Besides, BPH‐associated miRNAs were also studied in BPH cells in vitro (Liu et al, ).…”

“…TCM has established its own prevention-and-treatment system that benefits thousands of people in China and throughout the world [ 49 ]. TCM has advantages for the treatment of BPH and LUTs and protecting bladder function, and many scholars have carried out further studies to detect the potential mechanisms [ 50 – 57 ]. TCM classifies BPH and bladder abnormalities suggestive of BPH as “kidney deficiency and blood stasis”, and this viewpoint is a consensus among experts [ 33 , 35 ].…”
