The advances in technology mainly concerning ion traps, storage rings, lasers, high-precision frequency measurements, detectors, and particle beams as well as advances in atom and ion manipulation have allowed for a considerable progress in the determination of fundamental parameters and quantities of radionuclides such as masses, electromagnetic moments, lifetimes and beta decay correlations. The main subjects covered by this topical collection are: high-precision mass measurements both with Penning traps and storage rings for neutrino physics, nuclear structure, astrophysics, and decay studies. Laser spectroscopy is applied for the determination of other ground state properties like spins, moments, and nuclear charge radii. Furthermore, results from decay studies of highly charged ions and reactions in storage rings are presented.

In the context of the shell model, electromagnetic transitions were used to analyze the nuclear structure of a mirror nucleus with the same mass number, A = 13. The shell model investigation was performed by calculating the root mean square (rms) for the proton, neutron, matter and charge radii, occupancies, the excitation energies, as well as electromagnetic moments, using the elements of a body density matrix of the PSDMOD two-body effective interactions carried out in the psdpn-shell model space. The present results adopted the harmonic oscillator's single particle eigen functions and Hartree-Fock approximation. In addition, the effect of core polarization was added using the effective charge and effective g factors to calculate electromagnetic moments. To acquire a fair analysis of the information, the core polarization has to be present. The outcomes were compared with experimental data

Beta-delayed proton and gamma emission in the decay of $$^{21}$$ 21 Mg has been measured at ISOLDE, CERN with the ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS) set-up. The existing decay scheme is updated, in particular what concerns proton transitions to excited states in $$^{20}$$ 20 Ne. Signatures of interference in several parts of the spectrum are used to settle spin and parity assignments to highly excited states in $$^{21}$$ 21 Na. The previously reported $$\beta $$ β p$$\alpha $$ α branch is confirmed. A half-life of 120.5(4) ms is extracted for $$^{21}$$ 21 Mg. The revised decay scheme is employed to test mirror symmetry in the decay and to extract the beta strength distribution of $$^{21}$$ 21 Mg that is compared with theory.
