The objective of this article is: a) to identify Peruvian researchers with high, medium and low impact factor according to Web of Science and Scopus databases; b) to identify the bibliometric factor with the highest influence on h-index of Peruvian researchers; c) to compare h-index between Web of Science and Scopus, at an individual and institutional level. Data were collected from Web of Science and Scopus (189 Peruvian researchers, 28 institutions on Web of Science and 33 on Scopus), between September 18-23, 2013. Then, institutional registries were created and linear regression analysis with stepwise procedure was run to identify bibliometric factors with higher influence on the h-index of Peruvian researchers. Web of Science and Scopus showed interesting simmilarities in the h-index of Peruvian academic institutions. At individual level, documents indexed in citation database had the highest influence on the h-index. Regression model identified bibliometric factors with higher influence on the h-index of Peruvian researchers, however further large scale studies are needed to improve external validity.

Resumen: Se presenta una relación de los procesos seguidos para obtener los datos estadísticos relativos a las actividades de ciencia y tecnología, y la subsiguiente producción de indicadores. Se indican las organizaciones internacionales encargadas de marcar las directrices a seguir en todos los países para conseguir la comparación internacional de dichos indicadores. Se analizan los principales indicadores utilizados en política científica, como son: de inversiones en I+D (recursos económicos y humanos dedicados a I+D), de resultados (producción científica, citas, patentes y balanza de pagos tecnológicos). Se tratan también los indicadores de innovación tecnológica. Se aportan algunos datos comparativos de indicadores de I+D de algunos países. Palabras clave: estadísticas de C y T, estadísticas de I+D, indicadores de I+D; directrices para estadísticas de I+D, indicadores de inversiones en I+D, indicadores de resultados de I+D, indicadores de innovación.Abstracts: This paper deals with the state of the art of science and technology statistics and indicators and the processes to obtain them. Some of the international organisations in charge to specify guidelines to reach international comparison, are presented. The main indicators used in science policy are presented: input indicators, those are, R&D investment (government budget, expenditure, and human resources on R&D); output indicators, R&D results (scientific production, citation analysis, patents, technology balance of payments). Indicators related to technological innovation are also considered. Comparative data on R&D indicators for some countries are presented.

40México por la cantidad de producción, mientras que en términos de la densidad de citas, países como Argentina, México, Venezuela y Costa Rica no presentan diferencias estadísticamente significativas. This paper examines the production of the Spanishlanguage literature in the field of management and organizational studies (MOS) in the last decade. To this end, we have constructed a dataset of articles published in scholarly journals listed in the Latindex Catalog database. The results show that Spain stands out from the rest of the countries not only in terms of output quantity, but also in citation density indicating a more advanced degree of scholarly content. In addition to this, Spain commands the largest share of empirical quantitative articles, an approach often associated with the model favored by researchers in this field in the United States. Within Latin American countries, Colombia and Mexico stand out for their production quantity, while Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela and Costa Rica do not exhibit statistically significant differences in citation density.
