Mitigation of X-ray induced DNA damages and expression of DNA-repair genes by antioxidative Potentilla fulgens root extract and its ethyl-acetate fraction in mammalian cells
Abstract:Potentilla fulgens is a medicinal plant in North-East India whose root is reported to have anti-diabetic, anticarcinogenic and antioxidant properties. The potential of hydro-alcoholic extract of P. fulgens root (PRE) for providing protection to mammalian cells exposed to ionizing radiation was investigated in this study. The methanolic extract of PRE shows an enhanced radical scavenging ability in a concentration dependent manner. PRE-pretreatment to stimulated human blood lymphocytes (HBL) reduced the frequen… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
