Mixed micellization study of ibuprofen (sodium salt) and cationic surfactant (conventional as well as gemini)

Abstract: Herein, we have studied the interaction between cationic surfactant (conventional [myristyltrimethylammonium bromide, MTAB] as well as gemini surfactant 1, 4-butanediyl-α, ω-bis(dimethyltetradecylammonium bromide) (14-4-14)) and antiinflammatory sodium salt of ibuprofen (IBU) drug in aqueous solutions by using tensiometry method at 298.15 K. The means of the interaction of drugs by added foreign materials is of paramount importance in the drug delivery. Ibuprofen is used for the relief of pain, fever, and swel… Show more

“…The values of excess free energy of micellization (Δ G ex ) expound the nonideality of the mixed micellization between the studied amphiphiles . The values of Δ G ex were estimated from the known value of micellar mole fraction and activity coefficient of the components considering different proposed model (Rubingh's [∆ G ex Rub ], Motomura's [∆ G ex M ], as well as Rodenas's [∆ G ex Rod ]) utilizing the subsequent equation: normalΔGexRub=italicRT[]X1Rublnf1Rub+()1X1Rublnf2Rub normalΔGexM=italicRT[]X1Mlnf1M+()1X1Mlnf2M normalΔGexRod=italicRT[]X1Rodlnf1Rod+()1X1Rodlnf2Rod …”

“…Thus, investigations of [Zn (II)‐Trp] + and ninhydrin could be utilized as a simple and reliable kinetic probe in aggregated structural systems. The investigation may also be performed in the presence of gemini surfactant micelles as well as mixed surfactant systems for the enhanced utility of technique/method.…”

“…Furthermore, geminis exhibit advanced aggregation features and unusual wetting power capacity [13][14][15] . Due to their distinctive quality, they are employed for several purposes, such as household things, cleaning, pharmacy, cosmetics, gene therapy, in micellar catalysis and so on [16][17][18][19][20][21] .…”
