Abstract:In the present work, the tangential (swirl) velocity component is superimposed at the intake of a narrow fluidic cylindrical pipe to achieve the desired mixing of inelastic non-Newtonian fluids/solutes at the outlet. We discuss an analytical method for obtaining the swirl velocity profile, considering the nonlinear viscous effects for both shear-thinning and shear-thickening fluids, represented by the power-law model. We numerically solve the species transport equation, coupled with the analytically derived sw… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
