mLUX: Usability and User Experience Development Framework for M-Learning

Abstract: In this paper, we propose the mLUX framework, a model based on the user-centered design (UCD) framework, which is specifically for the development of m-learning applications. We present the results of four case studies conducted to develop m-learning applications in which the proposed mLUX framework was applied. The main goal of the proposed mLUX framework is to ensure that the stakeholders, especially students, recognize that m-learning applications are learning media that fulfill their essential educational … Show more

“…Furthermore, MAR UX design, development and evaluation are somehow different than those of traditional mobile applications. From the MAR concept design perspective, UCD frameworks, such as mLUX (m-Learning User eXperience) [30], provide relevant concept development methods that ensure appropriate usability together with UX factors, including, but not limited to delightfulness, reliability and adjustability.…”

“…Pelet and Taieb [29] focus on mobile application design to promote UX, with recommendations on how color contrast can be used to impact the positive effects on behavioral intentions. Furthermore, Dirin and Nieminen [30] propose a usability and UX framework for mobile learning applications. The framework has been proven to promote UX in a mobile-based application by making the application adjustable, delightful and reliable, all of which are factors contributing to the emotional dimension of UX.…”
