(d,p) and (d,t) Studies of the Actinide Elements. II.Cm

Abstract: Properties of states in~Cm, Cm, YCm, and Cm were determined by (d, p) and (d, t) reactions on targets of Cm, Cm, and Cm. Assignments of one-quasiparticle states are made. Single-particle level schemes are extracted from the data by use of a pairing calculation. The extracted single-particle level schemes are compared with single-particle calculations, which include P4 and P6 deformations. Equilibrium values of P2, P4, and P6 are estimated for the odd-mass Cm isotopes.

“…Therefore, the K-2 y-vibrational band built on the ground state is expected in this energy region. h2/20=6.22keV is similar to the one in 241pu [12], 243pu [12,19], 245Cm [15] and 24VCm [15].…”

“…The observed large (d,p) cross-section for excitation of a state at 742 keV is due to the excitation of the 5/2 + [6201 state at 734keV, for which strong population in the (d,p) reaction is expected. The present assignments for the [761+1 band receive additional support from the levels studied in the (d, p) reaction in 24apu [19] and in 247Cm [15].…”

“…The level at 554.3 keV, populated by a very weak α group, was also observed in the 248 Cm(d,t) reaction [27] and was interpreted as the I=11/2 member of the 1/2 + [631] band.…”

“…The present data confirm the previous level energies and assignments with the exception of the energies of three levels. From the α-decay energies, we derive the energies of these three levels as 199. and (d,p) transfer reactions [27].…”
