Δ0(1232) production ind+

Abstract: Production of 0 (1232) resonances in d + 12 C collisions at 4.2A GeV/c was investigated with 4π acceptance, for the first time. The mass distribution of 0 (1232) resonances produced in d + 12 C collisions was reconstructed and their mass and width were extracted. The kinematical distributions of 0 (1232) were reconstructed in the laboratory frame and the corresponding mean kinematical characteristics were estimated. The fraction of charged π − mesons coming from 0 (1232) decay as well as the relative number of… Show more

“…In this case, the fraction of π − -mesons from the decay of Δ 0 isobars turned out to be 36 ± 4%. This result coincides within the statistical error with the data of (Olimov et al 2012) and also indicates a 1.45-fold decrease in the width of Δ 0 isobars in the nucleus compared to the collisions of free nucleons.…”

Figure 1 shows the experimental and normalised background distribution of the effective mass for protons and π − -mesons M and Γ were determined by minimising the difference…”

“…[55]. A couple of years later, corresponding experiments were done at the Dubna Synchro-Phasetron [56][57][58][59], taking advantage of energies allowing beams of incident momenta of about p lab = 4.2 AGeV/c. In [60] the measurements were extended to the detection of up to N * → pπ + π − three particle decay channels in coincidence allowing to identify also the N * (1440) Roper resonance and even higher resonances.…”

“…It was shown in Refs. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] that a significant fraction of the pions produced in relativistic hadronnucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions in bubble chamber experiments of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna, Russia) originated from decay of resonances. The dominant role of resonances in pion production at the energies of the order of a few GeV/nucleon or less was also revealed in earlier papers [10][11][12][13][14].…”
