Abstract:BACKGROUND AND AIMS
Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (LRG1) is a novel proangiogenic factor involved in the abnormal angiogenesis and renal fibrosis in diabetic nephropathy by potentiating endothelial transforming growth factor-beta/activin receptor-like kinase 1 (TGF-β/ALK1) signalling [1]. TGF-β mediates mesangial matrix accumulation culminating in the development of glomerulosclerosis [2], which also occurs in immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) patients. Our study aims to evaluate LRG1 a… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
