MobiGroup: Enabling Lifecycle Support to Social Activity Organization and Suggestion With Mobile Crowd Sensing

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a group-aware mobile crowd sensing system called MobiGroup, which supports group activity organization in real world settings. Acknowledging the complexity and diversity of group activities, this paper introduces a formal concept model to characterize group activities and classifies them into four organizational stages. We then present an intelligent approach to support group activity preparation, including a heuristic rule-based mechanism for advertising public activity and a cont… Show more

“…One of the unique features of participatory sensing is that it entirely relies on participants, who are expected to properly and truthfully collect and submit information to the campaign author in a timely manner. On one hand, it is essential to precisely understand the context in which participants collect the data [ 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 ]. On the other hand, participants may be indifferent or even reluctant to contribute this much-needed information due to various reasons, such as the concern of privacy, the cost of mobile data and the extra battery consumption.…”

“…Group activity recognition in contextaware computing is a process of detecting or inferring of members' collective activity who are performing the same activity or collaborating and interacting to achieve a particular and more complex goal. A number of studies have been conducted in this area which can be categorized into two main categories: 1) vision-based [10] and 2) sensor-based [18]. Inherently, working with sensor data, especially mobile device sensor data, is very challenging.…”

“…In recent years, lots of efforts have been focused on group dynamics, e.g., group detection, intra-group relations, and group behaviors [1], [6], [16], [17], [18], [22], [23], [27]. Prior work has emphasized the need for a better understanding of group dynamics and only touched on group mobility patterns and the leadership relation in a group.…”
