Mobile agent based online examination system

This paper presents the development of E -School System Architecture (ESSA), the architecture for an ELearning System. This architecture is introduced for the purpose of providing flexibility, scalability and modularity to the E-Learning system. Its main objective is to propose an architecture under which different e-learning software modules can be developed and integrated. During the course of development of this architecture, different services needed for an E-Learning system are identified, together with their functional understanding and means of technological realization. ESSA is motivated by MVC Architecture. It has a model that represents the data for the application, the view that is the visual representation of that data and a controller that takes user input on the view and translates that to changes in the model. It is developed for School of Computer Science & IT, DAVV, Indore. A prototype (ESS) is being built to verify and validate this architecture.

The purpose of this study is to determine and compare how undergraduate students’ attitudes towards on-line exams vary depending on gender and some technological variables. This study was carried out by using a survey method. As data collection tool, the Undergraduate Students Attitude Scale Towards On-line Exams which consists of 21 items, each with five response alternatives covering attitudes of undergraduate students towards on-line exams was used. Scale was developed by Ocak & Karakuş (2022).In this research, scale was administered to 1361 undergraduate school students from four different universities 2020–2021 academic year in Turkey. The convenience sampling method was used for selecting participants. The data were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA and independent-sample t- tests using a statistical package program (SPSS 10.0). As a result, Wi-Fi-using undergraduate students had higher attitude scores in Taking Precautions, Individual Characteristics dimensions and in total scores of USASOE. Female undergraduate students had higher attitude scores in the Taking Precautions dimension. Moreover, students who spend more hours on the internet had higher attitude scores and in on-line exams computer using students also had higher attitudes.Finally, in the Taking Precautions dimension, students who always or sometimes attend on-line courses had more positive attitudes than the ones who never attend on-line courses.

Item Analysis Examination (IAE) system is an electronic online instructional tool that can be openly accessible on the cloud computing service. This IAE system has been developed with PHP language with CSS bootstrap and MySQL database. Six months after launching the website, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, User's Satisfaction and Attribute of Use of the IAE system were assessed. The online questionnaire was also collected on the website and the result affirmed that the system was a promising tool with high effectiveness to be used in educational institutes. Additionally, the mean score of the user's satisfaction was surprisingly higher than 3.50. At this point, the mean score of gender difference, between male and female, was statistically significant in the IAE system for all aspects. There was none of the statistical significance found in the difference between the educational and audient type proportion. Moreover, our study provides the exam analysis to optimize the best items for future usage and the IAE system has been firmly tested to be a high-quality tool to measure and assess the student's knowledge in a digital era.
