Background: The increased use of technology in education has prompted the investigation of innovative media that can support modern-era learning.Aim: This study aims to investigate elementary school teachers’ perceptions, based on their years of experience, regarding the use of Nearpod as an innovative medium in flipped classrooms.Setting: The research cohort comprised all elementary school teachers in West Sumatra, with 153 participants serving as the sample.Methods: The study utilised a quantitative methodology and questionnaires as the data collection technique.Results: Using Nearpod in elementary school flipped classrooms had positive outcomes. However, teachers’ years of experience did not significantly correlate with their perspectives on instructional media or Nearpod in a flipped classroom. A notable 69.3% of teachers disagreed with the use of diverse learning, indicating potential limitations in their learning resources and familiarity with new technology. Additionally, 37.3% of teachers expressed low agreement with the idea that flipped classroom-based Nearpod would help them deliver lesson materials, suggesting that this teaching model may not align with their preferred teaching style.Conclusion: The research results indicate that the duration of teaching (which may be correlated with age) does not significantly show differences in technology perception in teaching.Contribution: This study reveals a challenge in integrating innovative technology into traditional teaching. Despite positive outcomes with Nearpod in flipped classrooms, there is a displayed hesitancy among educators towards embracing diverse learning methods.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is designed to create intelligent systems capable of performing tasks traditionally dependent on human intellect. Its integration into the field of education presents both opportunities and challenges as it is quickly expanding. Preparing teachers for this rapidly advancing technological shift is essential for success, as education itself is not static. This position paper adopts the methodology of synthesizing existing literature on innovative strategies for integrating AI into the preparation of Teachers of the Future. The concept of Teachers of the Future was introduced in this paper, addressing concerns surrounding AI’s potential to replace teachers. The paper recognized the irreplaceable roles of teachers in providing emotional and moral support as well as nurturing critical thinking among learners. It further explored the importance of AI for effective application in teaching and learning processes. Drawing upon the synthesis of literature collected from the review of related works, strategies for preparing Teachers of the Future in the Era of AI can be realized by implementing approaches such as development of AI literacy, integrating AI into teacher training courses, promoting collaborative learning among teachers in training, offering continuing education opportunities, and nurturing a positive attitude towards AI utilization. The paper suggested, among others, that Teachers of the Future should be provided with foundational training in AI application for teaching and learning processes within teacher education programmes offered by teacher training institutions.

New Media Use and Mental Health of Married Women: Mediating Effects of Marital Quality

While previous studies have investigated the influence of new media on mental health, little is known about its effects on the mental health of married women. This is a crucial research area, given that married women commonly encounter distinct mental health difficulties. Also, current research fails to provide comprehensive, population-based studies, with most relying on cross-sectional designs. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between new media use and mental health among married women in China, utilizing a nationally representative longitudinal dataset. We utilized a balanced panel dataset from 2016 to 2020 to establish a causal connection between internet use and the mental health of these women. Our findings indicate that internet use has a positive impact on the mental health of married women in China. Additionally, a structural estimation model (SEM) with 2020 wave data was utilized to investigate various new media use effects and explore mediating pathways of marital satisfaction. Consistently, there were negative findings between new media use, marital satisfaction, and depression. Furthermore, it was determined that new media usage had a significant negative impact on married women’s overall satisfaction with their spouses’ housework contribution, which, in turn, negatively affected marital satisfaction as a whole. The pathways that mediate the effect of marital satisfaction on depression differ across general internet use, streaming media use, and WeChat use. Examining various theoretical perspectives, we interpreted the indirect impact of new media use on mental health through marital satisfaction as passive mediation.
