MobilityFirst

Abstract: MobilityFirst is a future Internet architecture with mobility and trustworthiness as central design goals. Mobility means that all endpoints -- devices, services, content, and networks -- should be able to frequently change network attachment points in a seamless manner. Trustworthiness means that the network must be resilient to the presence of a small number of malicious endpoints or network routers. MobilityFirst enhances mobility by cleanly separating names or identifiers from addresses or network location… Show more

“…When Receiver2 sent a join message to join the multicast service MSEID1 (arrow 16). Router4 queried the NRS to obtain that the MTNs corresponding to MSEID1 were NA3 and NA5 (arrows 17,18). Router4 detected the path state of each MTN and selected NA5 with the best path state as the destination node (arrows 19,20).…”

“…Some ICN solutions deploy cleanslate ICN, such as Content Centric Networking (CCN) [12], Named Data Networking (NDN) [13,14] and Publish Subscribe Internet Technology (PURSUIT) [15], however, the high-cost limits the deployment of the clean-slate ICN solutions. Some other ICN solutions can coexist with existing IP networks to achieve incremental deployments, such as Data-Oriented Network Architecture (DONA) [16], the Network of Information (NetInf) [17], and MobilityFirst [18]. The content discovery mechanisms in ICN can be categorized into two major approaches: routing-by-name and lookup-by-name [19].…”

“…i3 and DONA, purely content-oriented networking architectures have been proposed. These proposals include PSIRP [9], PURSUIT [10], [11], SAIL [12], 4WARD [13], NetInf [14], [15], Mobility First [16], [17] and CCN/NDN [18]- [20]. CCN (Content Centric Networking: or called NDN (Named Data Networking)) is one of the most promising architectures for content oriented networks.…”

“…The shift from host-to-host to content-centric in ICN provides a natural solution to most of the issues faced by the IP infrastructure today, which are accrued by current Internet trends. The current representative ICN architectures are Data-Oriented Network Architecture (DONA) [4], Publish/Subscribe Internet Routing Paradigm (PSIRP) [5], Network of Information (NetInf) [6] and MobilityFirst [7,8], Content-Centric Networking (CCN) [9] in Named Data Networking (NDN) project [10]. In addition, some are designed to smoothly transfer from the current network to ICN [11].…”
