“…The experimental results confirmed that the FBGs can be successfully employed to measure the modal parameters of complex structures. Capoluongo et al 18 used FBGs to conduct modal analysis and damage detection on a sample structure obtained by joining two steel bars. The result showed that FBGs can retrieve mode shapes up to frequency of 1.5 kHz.…”

“…The monitoring system was carried by one of the authors from the laboratories in Institute of Optoelectronic Technology to School of Mechanical Engineering in Beijing Jiaotong University where it was setup to monitor the installation of FBG sensors on the sensitive parts of the motor bogie where is prone to problems and thus to provide the system for real-time and continuous measurements. Fig.7 and Fig.8 show strain measurement from one FBG sensor when give the bogie a huge strain in the form of sine wave, and the FBG sensor monitor system can measure the strain accurately [9] . The FBG sensors can measure the physical quantities accurately. The temperature it measured was correspond with the standard temperature measured simultaneously by the traditional thermometer. When measured a frequency excited by vibration generator, the result is accord with the frequency displayed.…”

“…Many scholars have carried out a lot of research on the damage identification methods based on FBG sensors [6,7,8]. Capoluongo proved that the FBG sensor can replace the accelerometer in vibration test for the structure damage detection [9]. Hwang, Kim established the equations of matrix changes with the damage change by using measured data, then solved the matrix changes using the least square method to determine the damage location [10].…”
