Modal Analysis of a Two-Dimensional Dielectric Grating Slab Excited by an Obliquely Incident Plane Wave

Abstract: Abstract-A vectorial modal analysis of two-dimensional (2-D)dielectric grating is presented. The transmission and reflection from the 2-D dielectric-grating slab are computed by combining the generalized scattering matrix and the modal analysis. New insights on the boundary conditions between two grating structures are presented to be suitable for two-dimensional gratings. The results obtained using the present analysis are verified with published experimental and numerical results for both one-and two-dimensi… Show more

“…The modes in the periodic regions are obtained using a vectorial modal method previously developed in [23][24][25] for one-dimensional gratings, and in [4,6] for the two-dimensional case. The mentioned technique has been extended in this contribution for considering an arbitrary number of dielectrics inside the periodic cell under conical incidence excitation.…”

“…For this purpose the AIM is used [11][12][13]. Different aspects of slab waveguide including isotropic and anisotropic cases were considered in [19][20][21][22][23][24][25]. In these papers modal analysis were considered.…”

“…Another advantage of this technique is that the required integrations can be calculated analytically for simple shapes of the implanted rods. Attiya and Kishk [17] generalized this modal analysis method to study 2-D dielectric grating slab. This paper presents an additional generalization to include also the effect of changing the relative permeability on the characteristics of a 2-D magneto-dielectric grating slab.…”
