“…In case of a single-mode DWG cable, the core of this cable can directly be connected to the single-mode section. However, it might be advantageous to use multi-mode DWGs in a high-data rate system in combination with a higher-order-mode filter due to the low waveguide dispersion of certain circular multi-mode designs as stated in [2] and [19]. For this purpose, in our transition, a dielectric taper is added to the single-mode section to adapt the transition to the core diameter of a multi-mode DWG.…”
