Show more

“…However, the original mechanism of salt halokinesis and model of salt rising are considered, until today, as the most controversial subjects of debate regarding the morphostructural evolution of the northern Tunisian Atlas. In fact, most of Triassic extrusions have been explained by a diapiric mechanism which is considered as the generator of salt rising inside the folded Triassic structure (Perthuisot 1978;Hammami 1999;Perthuisot et al 1999;Jallouli et al 2002;Benassi et al 2006;Benassi 2011), whereas Vila et al (1994Vila et al ( , 2002 and Ben Chalbi et al (2006) have interpreted the same structures as being formed by large-scale allochtonous salt (glacier salt) movements interbedded within the Cretaceous series.…”

“…The tectonic frame defining the structure of Neogene basins in northern and eastern Tunisia is the result of the pre-Miocene tectonic inheritance, influenced by the Lutetian and Priabonian compressional phases (Castany, 1956;Raoult, 1974;Vila, 1980;Ben Ayed et al, 1983;Bédir et al, 1992;Ben Ayed, 1993;Melki et al, 1999;Bouaziz et al, 2002;El Euch et al, 2004;Ben Chelbi et al, 2006;Khomsi et al, 2006;Masrouhi et al, 2008; Frizon de Synthetic Neogene stratigraphic log of north-eastern Tunisia based on the previous outcrop studies (Burollet, 1951;Besème and Lajmi, 1981;Bel Haj Ali et al, 1998). “…We cite for example: (1) the Lansarine structure overlapped by Eocene series on its NW side (Masrouhi et al 2007. ), (2) the Bir Afou structure showing many thrusts at NW of Triassic blades (Ben Chelbi et al 2006) and (3) Bazina Triassic salt overlapped by Aouana structure (Marzougui et al 2008). …”

“…Masrouhi et al (2013) exhibits the crucial role of Teboursouk NE-trending major fault in Lansarine structure with E-trending-associated faults. The study of Bir Afou structure by Ben Chelbi et al (2006) shows that this structure is placed into a tectonic intersection of two major faults trending respectively N45 and (major fault segment Tunis them) N120. The compilation of previous works interesting the Northern Tunisia and especially the BazinaAouana area (Fig.…”
