Abstract:For complex power electronic converters, typical design approaches divide the system into multiple independent subsystems without sufficiently considering the interactions among them. In this paper, a model-based approach for sizing the reactors of the modular multilevel converter (MMC) is proposed. The proposed method quantitatively considers the interactions between the reactor sizing and other design parameters, such as power ratings, protection schemes, and component-level shortcircuit capabilities. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
