Model-based model predictive control for a direct-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator with internal and external disturbances

Abstract: This paper deals with the critical issue in a direct-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-based wind energy conversion system (WECS): the rejection of internal and external disturbances, including the uncertainties of external environment, rapid wind speed changes in the original parameters of the generator caused by mutative operating conditions. To track the maximum power, a maximum power point tracking strategy based on model predictive controller (MPC) is proposed with extended state observ… Show more

“…ESO with hyperbolic tangent function. The drawback of the LESO as equation (16) may be that, the large parameters of l 11 , l 12 and l 13 may introduce the large oscillatory when the estimation error没 e =没 脌 u is large. On the other hand, the small parameters of l 11 , l 12 and l 13 may introduce the inaccuracy when the estimation error u e is small.…”

“…Extended state observer (ESO), as the key part of ADRC, realize the system a significant robustness by estimating the total unknown including internal uncertainties and external disturbances in real time. 16 Gao 17 proposed a linear ADRC (LESO) scheme, which adopts a linear ESO (LESO) and proportional-derivative (PD) error feedback control law for easy parameter tuning. In 18 and, 19 the LESO was designed to estimate the sideslip angles.…”

“…Model predictive technique (MPC) schemes can cope with the issues of linear and nonlinear constraints in multiobjective optimization problems. Consequently, in [7][8][9][10] apply this approach, i.e., MPC in the machine side controller (MSC). P. Kou et al [11], MPC has been utilised for battery-based wind turbine controller.…”
