Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and constraints are among the principal drivers of architectural decision-making. NFRs are improved or damaged by architectural decisions (ADs), while constraints directly include or exclude parts of the architecture (e.g., logical components or technologies). We may determine the impact of an AD, or which parts of the architecture are affected by a constraint, but at the end it is hard to know if we are respecting the NFRs and the imposed constraints with all the ADs made. In the usual approach, architects use their own experience to produce software architectures that comply with the NFRs and imposed constraints, but at the end, especially for crucial decisions, the architect has to deal with complex trade-offs between NFRs and juggle with possible incompatibilities raised by the imposed constraints. In this paper we present Quark, a method to assist software architects in architectural decision-making, and the conceptualization of the relationship between NFRs and ADs defined in Arteon, an ontology to represent and manage architectural knowledge. Finally, we provide an overview of the Quark and Arteon implementation, the ArchiTech tool.

There is a growing tendency in modern enterprises to understand business activities from a service-oriented perspective. The alignment of business and service-oriented architectures, and the provision of methods or techniques to help in such gap have become, therefore, crucial aspects in serviceoriented software development. In this work we present a proposal that aim to solve this gap by means of the definition of an architecture-centric method. This paper present the development of a service-oriented system that provide services for the citizens using intelligent pavement. Key benefits of our proposal are: the provision of a method for the alignment of business and service-oriented software, and, the definition of a new business model that can be used to understand the "structure" of a business and to complement other well-known business models such as business value or business process.

Along with continuing advancement of network and chip technology, vast amount of new router designs will be designed and utilized in differentiated Internet-connected systems, on-chip interconnection in SoC, and evolving softwaredefined networks. In this research, from an analysis of current and future router designs, we observe that router designs share a common composition structure. We thus devised synthesis techniques based on the common composition structure. It allows designers specifying high-level and detailed router design decisions. Together with extensible parts of router designs organized in the common structure, it can produce desirable synthesizable Verilog router designs. We implemented the synthesis design that is based on a number of synthesis techniques and HDL configuration generation method. Experimental results show that our approach can effectively produce desirable synthesizable Verilog router designs.
