Model Driven Manufacturing Process Design and Managing Quality

Abstract: Besides decisions in design, decisions made in process planning determine the conditions for manufacturing the right quality. Hence systematic process planning is a key enabler for robust product realization from design through manufacturing. Current work methods for process planning and quality assurance lack efficient system integration. As a consequence companies spend unnecessary lot of non-value adding time on managing quality. This paper presents a novel model-based approach to integrate process planning… Show more

“…together with the size value. An effort in this direction (the reduction of the ambiguity when moving from specification to verification) has also been undertaken with the definition of the skin model [13,258,257] and of the GeoSpelling language [32,201,202] proposes to solve this problem through a revision of the STEP standard. Examples of integrated definition of the tolerance and verification have been proposed in the field of gears [46,75,78,80,298].…”

“…Tchoffa et al (2016) presents a new way of combining model-based enterprise platform engineering, MDA, and system engineering in order to address the establishment of a sustainable interoperability within Dynamic manufacturing network. Lundgren, Hedlind and Kjellberg (2016) present model-based approach for integrated process planning and quality assurance, which enables new functionalities and provides more efficient support to production engineering processes. Gao et al (2016) reduce the problem size of workflow dynamic changes, decrease the computing complexity of workflow regions recognition and have flexibility to take the different migration policies corresponding to the different workflow running instances dynamically.…”
