Model for Assessment of Agile Methodology for Implementing Data Warehouse Projects

Abstract: Use of Agile methodologies for datawarehouse project implementation has been recommended in last few years considering challenges with using waterfall methodologies. This paper examines factors that decide suitability of agile methodology for datawarehouse projects. It proposes a model for assessing projects on various factors to decide if agile methodology is suitable for a datawarehouse project. This research contributes to IS success theory in the field of datawarehousing. Practical evaluation and applicati… Show more

“…The authors got results by the survey with useful metrics for measuring the understandability and maintainability of business process model, introducing the best useful metrics.  The authors in [12] introduced the assessment model for assessing data warehouse projects for agile methodology. They conducted with real projects.…”

“…Traditional data warehousing projects follow the waterfall structure to perform dimensional modeling [13]. However, its use is increasingly unlikely and alternatives of analyzing and designing similar to those used in software development projects such as agile methods are looked for [7,12,14]. In this respect, the agile dimensional modeling is being considered as a solution for BI systems since it allows developers to reduce the risks that the waterfall structure could produce [11,14].…”

“…For this reason, it is important to consider agile methods for the design and implementation of a data warehouse in a BI system (see Table 1). In this regard, it has been shown that agile development processes increase the potential for developing the success of a data warehouse by solving many of the typical problems presented in traditional methodologies [11,8,12].…”
