Model Studies of Long Piles in Clay

Abstract: Model studies were conducted to study the fundamental behavior of long pipe piles driven into two stiff, canpacted clay soils.The purpose of this paper is to report on the phenanena observed and not to provide guidelines for design. The specific observations reported are: p J.Prototype slender friction piles have RS values in the range of 0.5-10. The model test piles had relative stiffness values ranging from 0.6 to 2.2.
