Modeling and control of islanded DC microgrid fed by intermittent generating resources

Abstract: In this paper an islanded microgrid fed through the wind and solar energy resources is presented. The power flow within the microgrid is controlled using a Neutral Point Clamped Dual Active Bridge (NPC-DAB) converter. In the proposed dc microgrid, the solar energy source is associated at the low voltage (LV) bus and the wind energy source is connected at the high voltage (HV) bus. A permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) machine is used in wind energy conversion system. The real time solar radiation and… Show more

“…The DG units may be powered by both non-renewable and renewable energy sources. Micro-turbines, internal-combustion, reciprocating engines, fuel cells, and gas turbines are examples of non-renewable energy-based DGs, whereas renewable energy-based DGs include solar PV systems (Kumar and Rathore, 2022), wind turbine systems (Kumar et al, 2023), solar thermal electric systems, small hydro systems, geothermal systems, and biomass systems (Muhtadi et al, 2021). Globally, solar and wind energy are considered the best green energy options for power distribution networks (Das, 2015).…”

“…The impact of phase shifting modulation schemes on the converter operating efficacy and the reactive power drawn by the DAB is analysed by many researchers (Shao et al, 2019). Under voltage gains different from unity, the above said analysis plays a pertinent role in converter design (Kumar et al, 2023). The DAB comprises of two H- bridges connected through a high frequency transformer, the phase difference between the primary and secondary side voltages is responsible for the power flow (Kumar and Rathore, 2022; Lin and Du, 2015; Singh et al, 2022).…”
