Modeling and experimental investigations of a reactive homo-heteropolar brushless synchronous machine

Abstract: In this work is presenting a reactive homoheteropolar brushless synchronous machine (RHHBSM), with stator excitation destined to operate as low power generator in hydroelectric, or wind power stations, or as servomotor with reduced inertia. We proposed in this paper a modeling and a simulation method by electric-magnetic coupled network, based on the permeance network, 3D analysis with a specialized software and the machine's orthogonal model. One prototype machine has been studied. Within this paper, we make a… Show more

“…(8) Based on these premises, considering the configuration of the RHBSM or RHHBSM, presented in fig. 1, where λ i,j is the permeance between the stator tooth i and the rotor pole j depending on angle ϑ between the axis of stator tooth i and the axis of the rotor pole j, the permeance in the air-gap has the expression [3]:…”

“…The new topology is characterized by an electrical excitation winding placed in stator. Placing both the DC excitation coils and the three-phase AC winding on the stator characterizes this topology of homopolar (figure 1) [2,3], or homo-heteropolar synchronous machine (figure 2) [4][5][6]. The attractive advantages of this kind of machine are its better controllability in the very large speed range and the flexibility of the output generator characteristics [8,9].…”
