Modeling of a Compressor's Performance Map by Fitting Function Methodology

Abstract: To build a precise compressor model is a critical issue in the modeling and simulation of a turbocharged diesel engine. This paper proposes an exponential function for compressor flow model and a polynomial function for efficiency model. A case study of a compressor map for TCA88 turbocharger is implemented to verify the proposed model. Fitting results show that the compressor model performs in accordance with the manufacture compressor map. The compressor model can be applied to mean value models of turbochar… Show more

“…The compressor map estimation from Fig. 10(a) is qualitatively in agreement with the surface generated from a 4 th order polynomial fitting of the compressor maps in [25]. This can provide a more accurate extrapolation capacity where the performance beyond stall and choke lines -on each side -has dropped significantly as compared with real conditions, which the ANFIS model could not capture as well (Fig.…”

“…For implementing the program, a mathematical expression of efficiency as a function of and pressure ratio is required. In this way, it was verified that a 4 th order polynomial is sufficient to portray efficiency curves [14].Thus, a least-square non-linear regression method was employed. The same reasoning is valid for turbine and anode recycle blower. Turbine Capstone C30 and the anode recycle blower from R&D Dynamics were used as baseline for scaling.…”
