The heights of transfer units, the heights of equivalent theoretical trays, and the pressure drops have been measured experimentally for structured packings 1, 2, and 3 with different geometrical parameters, all other things being equal. The experiments were carried out on a distillation column, a mixture of R114/R21 freons used as the working fluid. In terms of physical properties, freons are very close to cryogenic liquids (except for the density), which can significantly simplify the research task and enable getting necessary information. The mentioned packings differ significantly in their geometrical characteristics and, therefore, each of them can be optimal for mixtures with different physical properties. The objective of the research was to get the heat and mass transfer characteristics and pressure drops for different types of packings.
