Abstract: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in the diesel engine exhaust stream needs frequent regeneration (exotherm) to remove captured particulate matter (PM, or soot) without damaging to the porous DPF structure by controlling the peak temperatures and temperature gradients across the DPF.
