Modeling of Switched-Capacitor Delta–Sigma Modulators in SIMULINK

Abstract: Abstract-Precise behavioral modeling of switched-capacitor16 modulators is presented. Considering noise (switches' and op-amps' thermal noise), clock jitter, nonidealities of integrators and op-amps including finite dc-gain (DCG) and unity gain bandwidth, slew-limiting, DCG nonlinearities and the input parasitic capacitance, quantizer hysteresis, switches' clock-feedthrough, and charge injection, exhaustive behavioral simulations that are close models of the transistor-level ones can be performed. The DCG nonl… Show more

“…Although many specifications are determined theoretically, modeling the system in Simulink is very helpful [7]. The finite DC gain of the OTA introduces gain error and leakage in the integrator.…”

“…Nonlinearity effects of the OTA are difficult to analyze [7]. But as long as the overall DC gain of the OTA including nonlinearity is higher than the desired threshold of 65dB, the performance will not degrade.…”

“…The second class contains the works aiming to predict or simulate the performance of different types of ADCs based on their infrastructure characteristics and features, usually in MATLAB Simulink or Spice. [2], [3], [6]- [10], [12]- [14] are some examples for this category. Generally speaking, the first category has attracted more interest than the other over the past decade.…”
