“…At present, dynamics of the ionosphere and its inhomogeneous structure, as well as ionospheric coupling with the troposphere and thermosphere, is one of the most active topics in geophysics. The Earth's upper atmosphere is strongly influenced by a large number of irregular and quasi‐regular factors, such as sporadic Sun activity [ Hargreaves , ], strong neutral atmosphere effects [ Zalizovsky and Yampolsky , ; Yampolski et al , ], solar terminator [ Somsikov , ], man‐made processes [ Medvedev et al , ], and auroral activity [ Ignat'ev , ; MacDougall and Jayachandran , ].
