Modeling the industry perspective of university-industry collaborative innovation alliances: Player behavior and stability issues

Abstract: Many firms find it challenging to develop innovations, evidenced by the ever-mounting number of university-industry research alliances. This study examines the strategic choices of actors who participate in collaborative innovation alliances involving partnerships between industry and universities (U-I) based on a stochastic evolutionary game model. White noise was introduced to reflect uncertainty and the stochastic interferences caused by the differences between actors. Using the Itô stochastic differential … Show more

“…Project-based learning is a concept where students learn through projects or assignments related to real life [39]. In collaborative learning, students work with lecturers and practitioners of the workforce to complete projects or assignments relevant to the industry [13], [34]. Project-based learning (PjBL) is a collaborative learning technique that allows students to learn through significant, results-oriented projects [40], [41].…”

“…The positive relationship between applied science and the needs of the private industry appears to originate from the need for industrial innovation. Involving external stakeholders in university funding can enhance the innovation capabilities of the participating companies [26]. This can be attributed to the merging of research-oriented university cultures that continuously foster innovative solutions, which ultimately benefits the companies.…”

“…Building on previous research, some scholars have constructed two-party evolutionary game models involving universities and enterprises as the main players in collaborative innovation, further analyzing these through numerical simulations [30][31][32][33]. However, these studies have not involved the government, which is a crucial participant in collaborative innovation.…”
