Abstract:Soil anisotropy is a property of geomaterials that affects significatively most geotechnical constructions: embankments, retaining walls, tunnels, tailings dams, foundations, etc. Gravity effects, mode of deposition, compaction processes, origin of components of soils, fabric, microstructure or stress paths have an influence on soil anisotropic mechanical behaviour.
