Modelling and controller design of quasi‐Z‐source inverter with battery‐based photovoltaic power system

Abstract: The quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI) with battery can balance the stochastic fluctuations of PV power injected to the grid/load, but there is no literature to disclose its modelling and controller design in detail. This study proposed a dynamic small-signal model of qZSI with battery and a control strategy for photovoltaic (PV) power generation system. The built model discloses the dynamic relationship of PV panel voltage, battery current, quasi-Z-source inductor currents and capacitor voltages. The proposed con… Show more

“…The open-loop transfer functions of the inductor current and the DC-link voltage of the inverter with respect to the shoot-through ratio is as follows [24,25]: In the low-frequency range of the amplitude-frequency characteristic curves, both the slopes of current and voltage curves gradually increased after compensation (Figure 3), indicating that the compensation could reduce the steady-state error of the system and improve the accuracy. As the inner loop, the current loop should have the characteristics of quick response and its bandwidth should be about 10 times of that of the outer loop.…”

“…1 shows the schematic of a Z-source network, it has a DC source, Z-impedance with switch 'S' and diode 'D'. As shown, the Z-source network is made of-of an X shape LC structure that can boost or buck the DC input voltage depending upon the interval of the shoot-through zero states during a switching cycle [8][9][10][11].…”
