Modelling and measuring multilateral co-authorship in international scientific collaboration. Part II. A comparative study on the extent and change of international scientific collaboration links

Abstract: The present study is focused on international collaboration in science, involving more than two countries. The authors developed a promising model to measure and analyse the extent of multilateral co-authorship links in a previous study. The model is based on a series expansion approach which relates a new indicator, the Multilateral Collaboration Index (p), to the share of internationally co-authored papers (f). The model was found suitable to classify both the share of international papers, as well as the ex… Show more

“…The aim of such studies is to compare the different teams and to define strategic orientations in terms of a single dimension: research. Although such approaches are relevant for the study of research organisations or for the analysis of collaboration (Gl~inzel and de Lange, 1997), they cannot be used as they are for describing the activities of universities, split into three * Tijssen and van Leeuwen clearly show the existing discrepancies between the IS1 bases and other bases, and the consequences of these differences on the measurement of production (Tijssen and Van Leeuwen, 1995).…”

“…Esta tendencia de aumento en el número de autores firmantes en trabajos científi-cos es un fenómeno señalado en otros estudios como característico de la ciencia moderna en la última década (10,11,12), dado que la investigación científica actual requiere cada vez más y mejores recursos humanos y materiales para llevarse a cabo.…”
