Modelling and Prediction of Cutting Temperature in the Machining of H13 Hard Steel of Transient Heat Conduction

Abstract: Cutting heat conduction undergoes three stages that include intensity transient-state, transient-state, and steady-states. Especially during machining with coated cutting tools, in the conduction process, cutting heat needs to pass through a few micron thick coatings and then flow into the tool body. This heat conduction presents typical non-Fourier heat conduction characteristics. This paper focuses on the cutting temperature in transient heat conduction with a coated tool. A new analytical model to character… Show more

“…In recent years, a variety of methodologies and techniques like finite element method (FEM), empirical and experimental were used to reduce WT during various manufacturing operations like drilling, turning, WEDM-EDM, laser cutting, welding and so on (Zhang et al , 2021; Majumdar and Xia, 2007; Mohamed-Amine et al , 2021; Sivasakthivel and Sudhakaran, 2013; Wang et al , 2020; Ribeiro et al , 2018; Vallavi et al , 2016; Kumar et al , 2020). In civil and aeronautical engineering, FEM is one of the methods used to address difficult elasticity and structural analysis issues.…”

“…After considering the third deformation zone, the calculated tool temperature will be more accurate. Zhang et al [4] set up a non-Fourier heat conduction model, and utilized it for predicting the temperature of the coated tools during cutting. Jiang et al [5] constructed a cutting temperature model using the line heat source approach under a that change over time heat source conditions, and exact temperature predictions were generated for the dynamic uctuations in both the workpiece and tool temperatures during intermittent milling.…”
