Modelling Assisted Phytoremediation of Landfill Leachate using Surface Flow Constructed Wetland Enhanced by Pistia stratiote and Salvinia molesta

Abstract: The current study is aiming to expose the efficiency of surface flow constructed wetland (CW) assisted by Pistia stratiote and Salvinia molesta in the remediation of landfill leachates. A laboratory-scale surface flow constructed wetland was constructed to imitate the characteristic of a natural pond. Composite sample of leachates was collected and transported to the laboratory for further analysis and studies. The removal efficiency of phenol, pesticides, sulphate, chloride, colour, turbidity, total suspend s… Show more

“…The application of modeling approaches for the optimization of the influential variables in the phytoremediation process is one of the valuable steps in enhancing the quality of this process; therefore, in this study, CCD method by using RSM package were applied to illuminate the quiddity and response surface in the experimental design and describe the optimum levels of the independent variables. This is one of the well-known techniques that has been widely applied to bioremediation's modeling and optimization [ 29 ], plant uptakes [ 30 ], and phytoremediation [ 31 ]. The RSM assesses the effects and interactions of variables via a combination of specific experimental designs and can generate different orders models like linear, quadratic, cubic, etc., to seek an optimum point from a particular set of response variables and factors [ 32 ].…”
