Abstract:Benthic foraminifera are unicellular eukaryotic organisms that play significant roles in marine food webs. Monitoring changes in their distributions and abundances are crucial to understand their roles and functions and to predict the effects of environmental impacts and climatic changes. Numerous biotic and abiotic factors influence foraminiferal distribution and abundance, but the ecology of individual taxa (i.e., autoecology) is difficult to define and this commonly results in a generalization of functions … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
