Abstract:To model the evolution in intensity of an ellipse image along randomly oriented profiles, this paper starts with the derivation of an analytical solution involving infinite summations of products of Hermite polynomials, which is consequently argued to be impractical. Generation of profiles adopting Fourier analyses hampers the extraction of arbitrarily located intensity distributions as a direct result of equidistant spatial sampling, and an alternative procedure is therefore presented to calculate the sought … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
