Abstract:In this thesis, our focus is the development of indirect binding models to predict the chemotactic response of E. coli to the signaling molecule AI-2. Our first model is developed from first-order binding kinetics to represent the interactions between the attractant molecule and the periplasmic binding protein, as well as between the ligand-binding protein pair and the chemoreceptor. The model accounts for the effects of the dissociation constants characterizing each binding interaction, as well as the crucial… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
