Models of Collisional Dissociation

Abstract

The paper presents an assessment of a model of collisional dissociation proposed by Lord for use in DSMC calculations. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of vibrational favouring of dissociation. Extensions to the original model are presented which attempt to include the influence of the rotational kinetic energy of the molecule in promoting dissociation.
