This study explored the relationship between non-suicidal self-harm and suicidal ideation and examined the mediating role of frustrated interpersonal needs on the relationship between non-suicidal self-harm and suicidal ideation based on the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted with 333 college students in Korea. Subjects completed a packet of self-report questionnaires through an on-line survey. The analyses were conducted with IBM SPSS Statistics 25 using descriptive statistics, independent T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Bootstrapping was adopted for significance tests regarding the mediation effect. Results: Among the subjects, 156 students (46.8%) had non-suicide self-harm experiences. The levels of suicidal ideation were significantly different by gender. Students with experiences of non-suicidal self-harm reported significantly higher levels of frustrated interpersonal needs and suicidal ideation than those without such experiences. The relationship between non-suicidal self-harm and intensity of suicidal ideation was partially mediated by thwarted belongingness, but not perceived burdensomeness. Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest the inclusion of effective strategies that can have a positive effect on ameliorating thwarted belongingness in developing suicide prevention programs for college students with experiences of non-suicidal self-harm.

This study aims to identity affected factors in PTSD of metro workers. The subjects of this study were the 209 workers who experienced traumatic accident on the job. The collected data was analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. As a result of this study, PTSD of metro workers was depended on their hobby, job position, job satisfaction, support of Colleagues, psychological characteristics. And factors of anxiety, phobic anxiety and hobby accounted for 56.9% of variance in PTSD. It is recommended to develop and evaluate of preventing of PTSD among metro workers who experienced traumatic accident on the job.

Influence of the Reasons for Living on Suicide Behavior in Soldiers with Suicide Attempts

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the reasons for living on suicide behavior in soldiers with suicide attempts.Methods: A descriptive study design was used. The participants were 67 soldiers with suicide attempts from an Armed Forces Hospital in D city. Data were collected from January 9 to March 9, 2023, and were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program.Results: Regression analysis results showed that diagnosis with major depressive disorder (β=.25, p=.013), survival and coping belief (β=-.52, p=.001), family responsibility and concern (β=.25, p=.033) were significant factors, and these factors explained 45.9% of the variance in suicide behavior.Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that diagnosis with major depressive disorder and the reasons for living influence the suicide behavior of soldiers with suicide attempts. Therefore, to prevent suicide, reattempts of soldiers, an intervention strategy to improve survival and coping beliefs, and family responsibilities and concerns are needed for soldiers diagnosed with depression.
