Purpose. A methodology development for predicting the geomechanical situation when mining an ore deposit with steep-dipping layers, taking into account the uncertainty in determining the rock properties, which is a consequence of the rock mass heterogeneity. Methods. The assessment of the open-pit wall stability is based on a combination of numerical simulation of the rock stress-strain state (SSS) and probabilistic analysis. The finite element method is used to determine the changes in the SSS that occur at various stages of mining operations due to design changes in the overall open-pit slope angle. The elastic-plastic model of the medium and the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion are implemented in the codes of the 3D finite element analysis program RS3 (Rocscience). Stochastic simulation is used to assess random risks associated with natural object state variations. Findings. The distribution of maximum shear strains, which localizes the real or potential sliding surfaces in the open-pit wall at various stages of ore mining, has been identified. Based on the Shear Strength Reduction procedure, the open-pit wall Strength Reduction Factor (SRF) has been determined. The probabilities of open-pit wall stability loss, as well as the decrease in the strength reduction factor below the standard level at all stages of the ore body mining, have been revealed. Originality. For the first time, for real mining-geological conditions of a deep ore open pit, the dependence of the strength reduction factor on the overall wall slope angle, which changes during mining of each steep layer, has been determined. For each stage of mining operations, for the first time, the probability of a decrease in the open-pit wall stability below the standard level has been determined based on stochastic simulation. Practical implications. The ratio between the open-pit contour characteristic (overall slope angle) and the probabilistic safety factor is the basis for practical solutions to ensure the efficiency and safety of mining at various stages of friable and hard overburden excavation, ore extraction, as well as for the subsequent optimization of the open-pit design contours.

Work aim is to carry out geomonitoring of rock mass state, which provides for comprehensive accounting and analysis of all natural and man-made factors, as well as use of methods and control tools developed by authors.Work uses complex method, including: study of mining and geological conditions, structural features of rocks of deposits and conduct of mine surveying observations in mines based on innovative methods and means of geomonitoring developed by the authors. Research materials of geomechanical processes at the mines of Akzhal, Saryoba Sayak and others are presented during projects implementation of «Development of innovative methods for predicting and assessment of rock mass state to prevent technogenic emergencies» and «Comprehensive monitoring of slow deformation processes of the earth's surface during large-scale development of ore deposits of Central Kazakhstan», and also used in the educational process of Satbayev University. As a result of research: methodology for comprehensive assessment of rocks state has been developed, which makes it possible to consider features of geological structure of undermined strata and, thereby, improve quality of geomechanical support for mining operations; design of permanent forced centering point (FCP) for installation of high-precision instruments has been developed, which makes it possible to ensure speed and accuracy of centering, as well as to exclude use of tripods; scientifically substantiated possibility of predicting stress-strain state of rock mass in the studied deposits, i.e. it is possible to determine: tensile strength - σco; clutch - K; density - γ and strength of rocks - f according to the scale of M.M. Protodyakonov; composition of hardening solution from mining waste has been developed to increase stability of sections of ledges of quarry, which has high fluidity, adhesion to rocks and sufficient strength.

For effective and safe development of mining deposits, it is necessary to study the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on the development of deformation processes, which provides an opportunity to regulate their impact on the rock mass, earth surface and engineering structures. The size of the deposit, geology and production volumes, affects the area of deformation, which can spread over huge areas. Accordingly, regional deformation monitoring is required for such fields. In order to provide high detail coverage of the area, traditional ground-based methods are impractical and costly. More timely and cost-effective for monitoring deformation of large territories is the use of differential radar interferometry. The results of high-precision geodetic measurements for the period 2019-2021 revealed that more observation points have significant negative values. This indicates a stable process of subsidence of the earth, predominantly. Analysis and interpretation of the obtained results of geodynamic monitoring (high-precision leveling, radar interferometry), allowed to determine that the condition for the formation of vertical and horizontal deformations of the earth's surface is a natural-technogenic factor.
