This article discusses important factors of quality of life of children with oral and maxillofacial pathologies: the issues of socialization and social and psychological adaptation. Cleft lip and cleft palate are common congenital malformations, having impact not only on somatic status but also on socialization, which is determined, in particular, by appearance and speech quality. As a child gets older, the risk of formation of secondary disorders of emotional and personal, behavioral and communicative spheres increases, which negatively affects psychoemotional background of the family. This work is aimed at substantiation of necessity of integrated assistance to families with children with appearance defects as the main subject of their socialization. The research was based on the methods of evaluation of social situation of a child with cleft lip and cleft palate and its influence on successful speech rehabilitation as an important constituent of quality of life. Analysis of the obtained data about opportunities of social adaptation of children with oral and maxillofacial pathologies gives confidence in necessity to maximum involvement of the family of such child into rehabilitation. It is important that all experts of interdisciplinary team understand the most important role of family in rehabilitation success, assist to parents and the child to resolve complicated situations related both with operative intrusion and with subsequent remedial actions. Early terms of integrated assistance allow to eliminate esthetic and functional violations of maxillofacial region, providing opportunities for full socialization of the child. Peculiar attention should be paid to the issue of tolerance of society regarding the persons with maxillofacial abnormalities.

According to the World Health Organization incidence of cleft lip and palate ranges from 0.6-1.6 cases per 1000 newborns per year. Thus, bilateral full cleft lip and palate occurs less frequently around 15–25%. Purpose: to analyze treatment methods for children with bilateral cleft lip and palate during the period of a removable bite. A review of 51 literature sources from 1951 to 2019 was carried out. Occlusion development features in bilateral cleft lip and palate patients during mixed dentition period were analysed. Main anatomical features of the maxillofacial region in children with bilateral cleft lip and palate during mixed dentition period is narrowing of the upper and lower dental arches as well as presence soft tissues scars of the upper lip. The main methods of treatment for such children is surgical reconstructive operations, including the elimination of the anatomical defect of the hard palate using mucoperiosteal flaps from the lateral parts of the hard palate combined with orthodontic treatment methods. Thus, an integral method of treating children with bilateral cleft lip and palate during mixed dentition period is a comprehensive approach, including surgical reconstructive operations, as well as orthodontic treatment, the main purpose of which is to expand and extend dental arch, which results in normal occlusion therefore eliminating myofunctional disorders. Optimization of social functioning quality of preschool children with cerebral palsy

Among the children with violation of supporting-motor apparatus, the largest group is comprised of those with cerebral palsy (CP). The lack of diagnostic toolkit adequate to pedagogical tasks does not allow to examine such children from the point of view of educational capabilities and socialization. The aim of research is development and scientific substantiation of innovative technology of pedagogical examination of preschool children with CP, aimed at differential evaluation of their educational capabilities and determination of specificity of educational demands. Analysis of the experimental results has allowed to formulate a set of conclusions determining scientific novelty of the research: educational potential of preschool children with CP is characterized by indicators of different levels, which stipulates variability and specificity of demands of psychological and pedagogical support; educational capabilities of preschool children with CP can be manifested at optimum, medium, low, critical levels, each of which is characterized by similar patterns irrespective of age; during the research no direct correlation between the manifestation rate of motor disorders of preschool children with CP and the level of their educational capabilities has been revealed; the educational potential of preschool children with CP significantly depends on the manifestation rate of intellectual disabilities stipulating features of mental development and is not correlated with the severity of motor impairment; the obtained experimental results have allowed to reveal peculiarities of educational capabilities of preschool children with CP, which is the key point in development of individual remedial programs; differentiation of preschool children with CP on the basis of level-driven approach allows to optimize the content of psychological and pedagogical assistance and the selection of remedial actions.
